About me
Adam Hughes is the East TN Organizer for Statewide Organizing for Community eMpowerment (SOCM), a 54-year-old member driven organization based in Tennessee. With over a decade as an organizer with SOCM, Adam has worked on issue-based campaigns in counties across East TN ranging from coal ash remediation, public land-use, and securing increased local decision-making over harmful development permit applications in rural counties. Much of his current organizing is focused on expanding local budget allocation for eviction prevention programs and working towards establishing a right to legal counsel for tenants facing eviction in Knox County. Adam is also co-leading a collaborative statewide campaign with organizational partners that is focused on expanding tenant screening protections in Tennessee.
